Butterflies Gallery

You can apply this method to many types of blocks. The fan block at left is pieced in the traditional manner, while the one below is pieced with the Magic Mirror-Image method.

This VIP butterfly print made great LeMoyne Star blocks using the Magic Mirror-Image trick. (From a workshop in Parsons, KS)

This is Hoffman Style #5818, another good contender for this technique. (The edge of the turned-over fabric is pinked.) Below is color #33-cream, and at right is color #19-navy.  

Hoffman Style #5876 also works well.

Color #23 Fushia and #19 Navy shown. I did not have a chance to photograph these folded.

 

(These are certainly not the only fabrics available that will work! Just keep your eyes and mind open as you hunt for fabrics.)
