Talking Blocks

This quilt is similar to the Tumbling Blocks design but without the set-in seams. Simple block construction makes this project easy for all skill levels. Trade novelty and conversational prints to make a great scrap quilt for young children (they’ll love naming the pictures), or make it in more traditional quilt fabrics.

6 Hour workshop, Intermediate level

This workshop introduces quilters to a variety of interesting techniques. Students begin this pieced and appliquéed wall hanging or throw and learn the techniques needed to complete the project, including blanket stitch appliqué; making fused bias stems and leaves, and placing them with freezer paper templates; making pieced eight-pointed stars for appliqué (no set-in seams); and making yo-yo flower centers with knotted stamens.

Machine Quilting
3 Hour or 5 Hour workshop
All levels

3 Hour Workshop-This intensive workshop covers the basics of free-motion quilting, including stippling, outline quilting, and free-motion motifs. The focus is on “hands-on” experience. We also explore methods for handling larger projects, including basting bed quilts; quilting design; and use of specialty threads.
5 Hour Workshop-Includes machine-guided quilting and more time to practice.
