Here are some of the quilts
from the American Quilter's Society 2002 Quilt Exposition in
Nashville, TN. These were entries in the special Stack-n-Whack
division. There were 39 entries juried into the show. I'll add
more pictures if I can obtain permission from the quilters. Please
contact me if you had a quilt in the exhibit! One quilt not pictured
is the Best of Show quilt for the division, "Going Beyond,"
by Meta MacLean of Quebec, Canada. Meta received a $5000 cash
award.

Radiant Stars
Joan C. Carroll, Central
Square, NY
1st Place - $1500 award
Joan used Stack-n-Whack
techniques to cut the octagonal centers and the point of the
feathered stars, and paper pieced the star "feathers".
This quilt has exquisite hand quilting!

Spiritual Awakening
Nancy Baker, Dekalb, IL
2nd Place - $1000 award
Nancy's striking
original design represents the six weeks of Lent. It is machine
pieced and quilted.

Road to Riches
Debra D. Geissler, Littleton,
CO
3rd Place- $750 award
Debra designed
a paper pieced border to complement the Wheel of Fortune block.
This was Debra's first entry in a national contest!

Butterfly Stars
Maureen A. Diesslin, Loveland,
OH
Maureen combined
eight-pointed stars with squares and four point stars to create
a unique setting.

Oriental Stars
Heather Purcell, St. George,
UT, and Diane Thomas, Columbia Falls, MT
Heather used
the Pinwheel Plus block for this dramatic quilt. Diane's long
arm quilting in metallic gold thread added richness to the design.
